Hi! Thank you for visiting Translators’ Journal.

My name is Mahmud. I’m a translator based in Bangladesh. Experiencing many of the bumps of being a professional translator, after about a decade in professional translation, I find this is high time I reflected.

Translator’s Journal gives me the opportunity to look back, spot my mistakes, and find ways forward.

I believe being a translator is more of a choice than just being a profession. As translators we love to be around words and languages. That’s why despite the jerky roads, we stay on the road and strive to translate and connect people with ideas and messages foreign to them.

It’s been ages our ancestors first wanted to translate their ideas into other languages so they can share their ideas with people who don’t speak their language. Like writing, translation is an art form that is going through a lot of changes in this era of technology. I believe it will remain an art as long as ideas whisper in human hearts.
